Rooted: Community Housing
Some shy away from building housing in a more sustainable manner because there are some additional upfront costs. But for residents, these decisions add up to a lower cost of living over time. Our Rooted project is a perfect case in point. This three-storey multi-residential building includes 9 market-rent units, and 9 affordable units (through Nova Scotia Housing and Rooted). The build’s net zero approach includes solar panels, WaterSense fixtures, EV charging stations, and covered bicycle parking—all of which make it easier for residents to save on their day to day living expenses. With cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, vaulted ceilings, high-end finishes, an elevator and barrier-free units on each floor, this will be a wonderful—and wonderfully affordable—place to call home. Special thanks to partners ZZAP, First Pen Studio Landscape, EFP Engineering, BMR Engineering, Element5 and DesignPoint.
